NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. The Niagara Power got off to a good start at home against the Olean Oilers, plating 3 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning to take a 3-0 lead. Josh Suroweic came through with a stand-up double to score both Connor Walsh Brett Lindsay, and later Derek Penman laced a double scoring Suroweic.
C.J. Gonzales had a fantastic start going 7.0 Innings pitched, 4 hits and 5 strikeouts. One base runner left on base scored after Gonzales was taken out of the game, charging him with on earned run on the night.
The Power got on the board in the bottom of the 7th with a groundout that scored Lawson Burnett. Burnett got onto second with a double then stole third, allowing him to score easily on a David Wessells groundout.
Gonzales was pulled with no one out in the Top of the 8th as Olean began to wake up with the bats after that. Trevor Cooley came into the game and let up 2 runs that were unearned, and Wyatt Linde had an unearned run in the 8th to make the game 4-3.
Linde closed the game out in the 9th and the Power improved on their record to 5-3.
