Power Update
The Niagara Power are currently ranked first in the Western Division of the NYCBL with a record of 12 wins, 7 losses, and 1 tie.
Outfielder Eric Wentz (Kent State U) is ranked 3rd in batting average and 5th in RBI in the NYCBL. Joshua Bookbinder (Newberry Col) and Max Alers (Los Medanos Col) are ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively in ERA.
In the last game, played on Tuesday June 25th at Sal Maglie Stadium, the Power took down the Genesee rapids in a 9-7 win. Right-handed pitcher, Alex Friesen (Enterprise State JC) earned NYCBL “Pitcher of the Night” with 8 strikeouts in 6 innings pitched.
A notable highlight from the night was 3rd baseman Noah Almond’s (Barton Col) homerun to score 2 runs during the bottom of the 4th inning. This was the team’s fifth homerun of the season.
The Power will return to Sal Maglie Friday June 28th to play the 3rd ranked Hornell Dodgers. This game will feature an Anchor Bar chicken wing eating contest, where Gianna Conti, Caleb Evans, Al Bouley, George Labianco, and Joel Hanson will compete for a $100 gift card to Anchor Bar and the ultimate bragging rights of a WNY native. Following the game, fans are encouraged to join the Power at Anchor Bar in Niagara Falls, USA to support one of the program’s partners and enjoy some wings!
Saturday June 29th is Little League Night sponsored by Cornerstone Community Federal Credit Union. Any kids currently playing in a little league who sport their jersey to the game will receive free admission.
