2020 Season Cancellation

  • Apr 23, 2020

The Niagara Power regret to announce that the 2020 season will be cancelled. After considering the risks of bringing college players from across the country to Niagara Falls during this uncertain time, it was determined that it was in the program’s best interest to make this unfortunate decision. This decision was made with the well-being, health, and safety of not only the players, interns, and staff of the Niagara Power, but also taking into account the program’s Niagara Falls fans and community.

Not having a 2020 season was an extremely difficult decision to make, but several other NYCBL teams have also withdrawn for the summer. The teams that remain are subject to following MLB protocol, which has delayed summer collegiate baseball team’s start date until mid-June as of now, and is subject to change.

The Niagara Power sends their best wishes for health, patience, and kindness during this time. Although we feel sympathetic towards our players about these circumstances, we wish them the best of luck in their future collegiate seasons and look forward to playing for another championship in 2021. Our mission is to create the best environment and experience for our players, interns, and fans, which we felt could only be achieved by taking this summer to continue to follow the social distancing and disease-preventing measures recommended by the CDC.

During the next few months, you can look forward to a Niagara Power presence on social media and on our website. We will be releasing weekly podcasts, content, and information to keep the Power community involved. Soon, we will be releasing a Niagara Power merchandise store for fans to gear up for the 2021 season.

The returning champs will be back before you know it—stay patient and healthy in the meantime!
